NEW YORK — Aragon fishermen are hoping that President Donald Trump’s comments on Aragon will lead to positive change for their industry.
“It’s a huge part of our industry, it’s a very important part of my family’s,” said James Widdowson, who owns and operates Aragon Fishing.
Widdowsson says his family owns a boat called the Nautilus and his brother has a small boat called Chute.
Aragón fisherman James Wyszynski told Fox News that Trump’s recent comments on the aragon fishery are an important step in the right direction.
“”The comments he made on Aragón are very positive and are going to help our industry and our industry grows,” Wysynski said.
He added that it’s important for the President to be speaking out and that it shows he is serious about combating climate change.
The president’s comments come after a wave of criticism for his remarks, including a New York Times editorial that said Trump’s “outrageous” and “demeaning” remarks about Aragon were “the stuff of politics.”
